Questions to ask before accepting funding

A funding offer should be understandable before it is accepted. Rather than focusing only on the advance, take time to review the written agreement and the range of outcomes it addresses.

What is the total cost?

Ask for an itemized explanation of charges, when each applies, and whether the amount payable changes over time. Request examples at multiple dates rather than a single best-case illustration.

Ask whether any fees are deducted from the amount you receive. Confirm which figures are estimates and which are fixed by the agreement.

What happens under different outcomes?

Ask how the agreement treats a recovery smaller than anticipated, a delayed resolution, and a case with no recovery. Millenia's advances are non-recourse. With any provider, confirm in the written agreement exactly what non-recourse covers.

Do not assume a headline description captures every contractual obligation. Read the complete document and discuss unfamiliar language with an appropriate adviser.

What information and coordination are required?

Clarify the documentation needed, the role of your attorney, and the secure method for exchanging sensitive information. Ask who will answer questions before and after funding.

Can I explain the offer in my own words?

Before signing, you should be able to describe the amount received, how costs develop, when repayment is due, and the outcomes that change your obligations. If any part remains unclear, ask for a written explanation.

A useful checklist does not make the decision for you. It helps you identify unanswered questions and compare the proposal with alternatives in light of your own circumstances.
